The John Ireland Charitable Trust was formed in 1968 to promote awareness of Ireland’s works through recordings, performances and publications.

Activities of the Trust include:
  • Sponsoring John Ireland Competitions in music conservatories throughout the UK
  • Making grants in support of selected recordings of Ireland’s music and occasionally of other British composers
  • Making grants towards concerts and recitals featuring Ireland’s music

The Trust has commissioned arrangements and editions of Ireland’s music by Geoffrey Bush, Christopher Palmer, Martin Yates and Graham Parlett.
Matthew Forbes’s arrangement for cello and strings of Ireland’s Cello Sonata has been recorded by Raphael Wallfisch and the strings of the Orchestra of the Swan conducted by David Curtis and will be issued by Naxos in the course of summer 2016.
It is expected that Graham Parlett’s editions of the complete music for the film The Overlanders and the incidental music for the 1942 radio broadcast of Julius Caesar will be recorded in summer 2016.

Ireland’s surviving manuscripts are held at the British Library.
