Thank you to all who made the 2023 May Festival such a success: to all those at the venues for their invaluable help and support and for welcoming us so warmly; to the artists, for the energy and commitment of their performances; to all the volunteers who assisted with general administration, staffing the Box Office, stage-managing and stewarding, and without whose help running the Festival would simply not be possible; and, of course, to our audiences, whose enthusiasm, encouragement and financial and moral support continue to mean so much to us.

We are looking forward to returning to Oxfordshire next year. In the meantime, please continue to check this website for news of our forthcoming events, including our first Australian EMF in Melbourne in August; an Autumn Festival in Schleswig, Germany; and a collaboration with the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, planned for 2024.

On 9 March, at the Conway Hall in London, cellist Raphael Wallfisch, American tenor Brian Thorsett, violinist Rupert Marshall-Luck and pianist Michael Dussek will present a very special evening of music by leading British composers to raise vital funds for the acclaimed English Music Festival. The evening’s programme will comprise the Cello Sonata of Frank Bridge, the Sonata for Violin and Piano by Edward Elgar, and songs by Purcell, Arne, Byrd and Vaughan Williams. More details are available here; and tickets may be booked through the Conway Hall website. Please come and join us!

We are delighted to announce the programme for the 2024 May EMF. This year, for the first time, all our events will be held in Dorchester-on-Thames, with the concerts taking place in the glorious surroundings of Dorchester Abbey; the talks in the historic Village Hall. The full programme, with details of venues, works and artists, may be seen on this page. Booking for Friends of the Festival will open in early March, with general booking opening two weeks later; tickets will be available by post or through our online Box Office.

We have recently introduced a new tier to our Friends’ Scheme for Corporate Friends — so, if you own, or help to run, a company or a similar organisation, and would like to enjoy the special benefits that this tier offers, please do consider joining at this level. For more details about our Friends’ Scheme, please follow this link for a description of the tiers and their benefits, together with information about how to join.
